What stops us from living the life we want? What are some of the barriers precluding our goals?
We all have long-held beliefs and stories we tell ourselves that don’t help us create a life of brilliance and meaning.
The stories we tell ourselves can be about our mental capabilities:
- I’m not smart enough.
- I could never do that job or get that degree or go for that promotion.
- I can’t even walk a block never mind running in a marathon.
- That person would never be interested in someone like me. They are out of my league.
Expansiveness of our hearts:
- I’m not loving, compassionate, caring enough.
These beliefs and stories set off powerful emotions that can keep us tethered to the status quo and mediocrity.
In becoming consciously intimate with our feelings, emotions and their corresponding perceptual views, beliefs and stories – about what is true, what is right, what is wrong, and the ways things should and ought to be – we can begin to shift and change any outmoded views that don’t proactively support us in creating the life we desire.
Our feelings and emotions aren’t static ‘things’. They’re fluid and flowing processes, which when considered, refined and purposefully directed, can be a wondrous catalyst for expressing our authentic self and creating the life we really want.
There’s nothing right or wrong about any of our expressed emotions. They’re simply how we choose to express ourselves in response to our perception of surrounding stimulus
In the same way carbon can be fashioned into pencil lead, coal, soot or diamonds; we have the ability to fashion our lives in so many different ways.
It takes heat and pressure to create diamonds from carbon.
What would happen if we harnessed the heat and pressure, given off by the stress of perceived roadblocks in our lives, and shape a life which sparkles like a diamond?
Hmm….. food for thought!
